THE ACADEMY OF COUTURE SEWING AND CREATIVE TEXTILES
The signature masterclasses offer an exciting opportunity to receive intense training for those who wish to take their own personal journey to the ultimate level or the professional wishing to enter the world of fashion or bridal design.
May - September 2024.
The course is limited to 6 people in a group. Although I can take two groups at one time!
The course will last 5 months. One class per month where we all meet via zoom to discuss all your current projects, plans and ideas. I know how much you are interested to hear and learn the thought process behind each other’s work as well as your own.
Plus, open access to my help line during those 5 months. We can arrange quick calls so we can discuss any issues you may be having along the way. Technique, pattern, fabric and design advice or simply someone to talk to whilst trying to make decisions!
I won’t put a time limit on each call. But obviously we need to be mindful of time.
I think this is a great opportunity for our very experienced sewers to get together and inspire each other and for me to offer the best support I can, individually!!
We will have an initial consultation as a group over zoom to discuss ideas on what you want to make during the course. Followed by 5 classes, one per month as a group. (6 class meetings in all)
All 1 to 1 calls will be arranged directly with me. Message me then we arrange a time. I will slot video calls in within 24 hours. No ‘long waiting’ times wherever possible!!
The program will start in May and run through to September. We will arrange each meeting to suit group members, each month. So, it’s fair for everyone. All classes will be recorded for you to keep

A great opportunity to have your garments personally fitted with Terry.
Your goals can be suggested and together a suitable timetable can be planned.
COST WILL INCLUDE:
House tour with food and drinks on the first evening.
Light lunch and refreshments during classes.

An evening discussing fashion, fabric, textiles and art. Accompanied by food and wine in my new home, a converted Tailors in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.

You will need to bring all your sewing materials and personal sewing kit
You can bring your own sewing machine if you wish. But if not possible a basic sewing machine will be available for use during the class.

This masterclass is split up into three parts.
Each part contains 5 sessions. Each session is 2 1/2 hours long. Session one starts on a Saturday afternoon. Two sessions on Sunday and two sessions on Monday.

Plus, one extra hour introduction for meet and greet and advice focusing on planning, styling, costing, sizing, and presenting your future collection.
A further two bonus hours will be spent outside the making sessions discussing finding and working with Client’s, Magazines and Retailers.
This is an exciting opportunity to attend an intense masterclass specially designed for those ready to unleash the designer within.
The course creates a unique occasion for you to plan and make samples towards your Debut Collection.
Over the seven months, you will make two full-size couture gowns and a series of design boards. Each gown will have a completely different construction method. We will work to styles currently trending the world’s top couture bridal and special occasion collections.
We will all work to the same pattern foundation. Then we can discuss how to develop your individual creativity by adding your own signature style.
You will be given a supply list with all materials needed, and you will also need a mannequin to work on.

There will be an extra Introductory ‘Meet and Greet’ session of one hour before starting the first class explaining how the course will run, including the design process, choosing styles, fabrics and fitting.
Plus, one extra ‘catch up’ hour outside the ongoing course.
CONTENT
Have you ever dreamt of planning, creating and wearing a beautiful collection of handmade clothes?
This course is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to plan an interchangeable wearable set of unique garments that mix together all design aspects to create Form, Line, Texture, Shape and Colour.
As well as the design element, you will make a classic seasonal collection of ideas and turn them into artful original clothing. You are mixing A ‘Fit to Flatter’ attitude with some seriously pure Couture Construction Methods and recognised techniques from luxury high street labels.
You will be guided through the process to maintain a focus that stays true to your taste and lifestyle.
This journey can be for your own personal wardrobe or towards your debut fashion collection.
